Position Summary: This position is responsible for implementing processes, scaling up products, introducing new products and troubleshooting issues that occur during processing in operations. The incumbent will also lead and drive any site initiatives or projects in continuous improvement, process optimization, cost reduction, etc., as assigned by site management
Expected Results:
– Develop and execute plans for launching new processes and products, and or producing experimental orders at Singapore Plant so that all internal and external requirements are met.
– Collaborate with market and technical researchers to understand customer needs and translate those needs into manufacturing specifications.
– Implement process functional descriptions via the site’s process control system. Provide on-site support for process automation, covering areas such as scoping and specification of the software configuration.
– Develop and deliver process training to site personnel.
– Process data mining. Write Change Management reports for various stakeholders.
– Initiate and lead site Management of Change (MOC).
– Develop, review and improve Bill of Materials (BoMs).
– Troubleshoot and implement corrective actions to resolve equipment, processing or quality issues. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
– Assist in developing and maintaining site’s Process Safety, including its management system, document control and records. Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR)
– Provide process and operational expertise in the planning, installation and commissioning of plant improvement projects and modifications.
– Coordinate site initiatives as assigned in an effective and on-schedule manner.
Accountabilities:
– Scale up new processes and equipment to achieve product performance.
– Work closely with business unit managers, project teams, operators and customers in order to commercialize new products.
– Participate in design of production equipment, design reviews and development of programming controls.
– Lead and manage site’s Process Safety initiatives.
– Troubleshoot and resolve processing issues related to new product startup and to commercialized products.
– Support Milliken scorecard by contributing to team efforts that strive to guarantee quality, minimize cost, meet delivery promises, maintain processes, and work safely.
– Document experimental order plans, projects and customer information according to standard work measures.
Technical Skills/Experience/Background/Traits:
– Understanding of manufacturing environments, processes and procedures. Strong expertise in reactive chemistry and common unit operations in chemical processing.
– Ability to read, understand and modify PLC ladder logic (Allen Bradley Controls). Ability to operate and configure Batch Manager.
– Expertise in Process Safety, its management system and methodologies (such as RCA, PHA, PSSR, risk assessment, permit-to-work, etc.)
– Familiar with local statutory and permitting requirements in Occupational Health and Safety, and Environment.
– Familiar with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Responsible Care. cGMP is a plus.
– Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting, environment.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with customers, management team and production personnel.
– Business understanding of cost/benefits analysis, project management, and strategic planning.
– Ability to facilitate and drive resolution of complex problems.
– Ability to travel internationally as needed.
Educational Preferences/Requirements:
– BEng (Chemical) or BS in engineering/science field or equivalent experience.
– More than 5 years’ hands-on experience in product development/process engineering.
– More than 5 years’ experience in a leadership position.
– Site start-up experience is a plus
